New Year's Resolutions

Whenever a year is over and another one begins, it's always the same thing: more and more resolutions. In the end, some of them end up not being fulfilled. Even so, these resolutions are essential for us to set new personal goals and feel like we're having a fresh start. That's the reason why I have decided to share mine with you, so that I can encourage you to make your own. Here they are:

- Offering my students this blog (which is also for anyone interested in learning and developing their English).
- Preparing even better classes.
- Reading more.
- Going on a diet! I need to lose at least four kilos to start with.
- Going back to my yoga classes.
- Meditating more frequently (everyday, if possible).
- Starting to exercise (this is one of those I believe won't be fulfilled!)

What about your resolutions? Would you like to share any of them with us? Even if you don't feel comfortable enough with your English, give it a try. You might be surprised!

Waiting for your contributions,
Sabrina Braga

  6. - This trip was clearly amazing! Do thank your parents. Loved the pic. Wish I'd been to Wonderland as well. I mean, I often go there, u know. #crazy
    - Are u in the 1st grade of High School? Really sorry to say so but that's the worst one. So, make sure u do your best, so that the other 2 will become ridiculously easy, LOL! And, yeah, do hang out. Your brain needs a break to internalize what's been studied. That's good news, isn't it?
    - C'mon, Nick, losing weight can't be one of your goals. You're fine, believe me. Nobody likes skinny girls. : /
    - That's the best thing ever!!!

    Thanks for contributing!

  9. Leo, that's just a start but, hopefully, I'll be able to cover a good variety of things, such as cool expressions, phrases taken from music or video snippets, info on English-speaking countries, you name it!

    Concerning your resolutions, you've already started to improve your English; I hope the blog helps you even more. : )
    You've mentioned a trip. May I ask where to and when you intend to go?
    Oh, enjoying life with friends... that's one of the greatest things one can do, isn't it?

    Thanks for contributing. Don't forget to click on "seguir", on the right.

  10. The liaon

    The lion
    King of the cats
    A magnificent beast
    Meant to be roaming free
    Climbing trees
    Not locked up in a cage
    Forced to pace back and forth
    Back and forth
    People throwing things at it
    This is not how the king of the cats should be
    And yet he is
    He's in a cage

    Another lion
    A female
    Is brought to stay with him
    He is happy and proud
    But they shrink the cage
    Giving two lions less space than before
    It's just not fair

  11. Wow! Can I take from your comment your New Year's resolution is to break free? This reminds me of a song of a group you like so much:
    "I want to break free... / I want to break free..."

    But seriously... that's so sad but so real...
    Do you know the author? Mind if I repost it?

    Thanks for contributing.

  16. I believe u, Nick, 'cause I felt the same. And because I didn't do my best in the 1st year, I had a terrible performance in the following ones. Almost flunked maths on the 3rd!!! Lucky me I'd passed the entrance examinations, LOL!!!

  19. As my year stats only after carnival, like most of brasilian's people, now is the perfect moment to make a list of thinks of resolutions for this year:
    - studing English, to improve speaking and listening;
    - improving Italian, by reading more books in this language;
    - having tennis classes;
    - photographing without the automaticaly mode;
    - making a blog of the stories of my travels;
    - being more "light" about hard things in life;
    - starting to be more organized (or less disorganized)
    This last thing, I think that is as difficult as it is difficult for my teacher making exercises. In fact, this resolution is found every year between other easyers resolutions that I have already done, like stop smoking or leaving in Rio.
    Julia.

  20. Dear Julia,
    Thanks for your contribution!
    Your resolutions are great; I hope you can accomplish all of them. And you have already started; you are already improving your English and starting your tennis lessons, as far as I know. : )
    I can see you are as keen on languages as I am. I'd really like to learn French as well as Italian, you know. French is so fancy and romantic, whereas Italian is so lively! Anyway, languages are fascinating as a whole.
    And, you know, your resolutions have made me add two more to mine: being less disorganised and, meanwhile, being lighter about things. They seem so contradictory! But we can cope with both, let's pray, LOL!
    So, you like photography! I do love it too, photographing as well as being protographed. That's quite a hobby. But I have to admit the automatic mode has saved my life many times!
